The Elmer Gertz collection consists of the manuscript for "Henry Miller: Years of Trial and Triumph," the book, and ephemera. Henry Miller, one of Gertz's clients, was accused of obscenity for his book Tropic of Cancer. These papers document Miller's challenge of these charges, and the fight that Gertz successfully waged in Illinois to stop censorship of the book.
